01. Read or review and understand the school policies:
Every school has outlined rules and regulations governing the conduct of teachers and staff; This is very important for new staff/teachers, and for old staff a review would be very good. Don’t put yourself in a position where you will assume yourself above the law or use to good conduct. Understand that your compliance to this will help you enjoy a good stay under your employer.
02. Know your standards / Curriculum:
Standards and Curriculum are essential tools that both private and public schools use. Understanding standards and curriculum will help you design your lesson notes and lesson plan in accordance to expected learning outcomes. Consider your present qualification and consider upgrading yourself as promotions and greater opportunities may be tied to this.
03. Create Detailed [Lesson] Plans
Lesson plan is a live wire in teaching. With a detailed lesson plan you will see how easy it will become to communicate and teach your students effectively. You need not struggle in preparing this as there are numerous comprehensive materials online to help you achieve this.
04 Find an Aiding system.
As a teacher find out materials and methods that would help your delivery; all your pupils and students deserve to be carried along in every subjects and topics you handle. seek different means you would carry all of them along towards success by the end of the session.
It is also very important that you find out the kind of grading system your school is using; and find a corresponding software that would help you achieve grading of your students result and performance by the end of each term as this will save you a lot of time and stress.
This is for new teachers in a new school. You can arrange with the administrator of the school a day or two before school resumption for a walk through around the school. This is a way of familiarizing yourself with the environment and other amenities that the school have.
